Professional Bio
Mr. Tsutomu Igarashi brings +20 years of experience in project management for domestic and international factory construction projects across various industries. His expertise spans nuclear power, thermal power generation, flat panel displays, magnetic materials, inks and dyes, and cosmetics. In 2009, he transitioned into the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the design, construction, and commissioning of facilities for active pharmaceutical ingredients, high-potency drugs, sterile injectables, antibody drugs, and regenerative medicine. Since 2015, he has been involved in the development of large-scale cultivation technology for iPS cells and related equipment. In 2017, he was stationed in the United States for the construction of manufacturing facilities for regenerative medicine products. Tsutomu joined Takeda Pharmaceutical Company in October 2020 and currently serves as the Capital Project & Portfolio Lead and Automation Lead in the Global Engineering Department.
In addition to his extensive industry experience, Tsutomu holds key positions in various organizations. He is a Board Member for the Japan Chapter of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE), overseeing the Bio and ATMP sectors, and serves as the Chair of the ATMP Community of Practice. He contributes to the evaluation committees of the Acceleration Program for Regenerative Medicine, Cell Therapy, and Gene Therapy at the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), as well as the task evaluation committee for the Industrialization of Regenerative Medicine and Gene Therapy at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Furthermore, he serves as a technical committee member for the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
